Awakened with a clap of thunder at 2:35am, then very heavy rain at a rate of more than 5 inches of rain per hour, hail had been falling with the rain. The rain had fallen at .55" of rain in less than 30 minutes. Did not realize that we had had hail with the rain until I looked at the rain gauge and noticed that the down spouts from the roof had overflowed with ice-from-hail in the down pores. Made a call to the weather service about 3am. |
