The hail began with the rain. Light rain at first then very heavy rain at 3:35 which was continuous .45 inch of rain in 15 minutes. The hail did not accumulate on the ground, melting very fast. Hail stopped abruptly at 3:44 pm. Rain continued with thunder in the background coming from east of this station. Radar show the heaviest rain at Bellevue and university, 2.5 miles east north east of this station. Still raining at 3:55 when report submitted.
Edited: There were 3 more small hail events. It was pea size and not much accumulation, perhaps one stone every 3 square inches. At 4:15 pm it hailed for 5 minutes, 4:25pm for 5 minutes and 4:35 pm for 3 minutes. The last hail had one or two 1/2 inch stones. No hail damage. All hail was mostly vertical. |
