Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: IL-BN-19
Station Name: Belvidere 5.0 NNW
Report Date: 5/31/2025
Submitted: 5/31/2025 8:45 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
With only 0.15" of precip over the week soil conditions have returned to mildly dry. Area waterways have slowly dropped to below their normal levels. And the U.S. Drought Monitor still has our area in a moderate drought. Thought that the previous weeks heavy rains would have relieved that condition somewhat but the drought remains. Trees and shrubs are doing well enough but they are not quite as lush as to be expected. Area lawns are growing slower and my garden is now dusty dry on the surface with deeper soil still moist. Wildlife has been about the same with numerous birds at the feeder and what looks to be flycatchers or pee wees nesting above my front door. I did briefly try to discourage them but their persistence was so impressive that I relented. Maybe they will catch a few flying bugs that would otherwise get inside the house.
