With only 0.07" of precip over the week soil conditions have gone from mildly wet to near normal. Area waterways have dropped slightly and are near their normal levels. The weather has been pretty quiet lately with cool temps predominating. The trees are still mostly bare along with most of the underbrush, excluding the infamous Morrow's Honeysuckle of course. Area lawns are greening up nicely and a few have already been mowed with my lawn not far behind. Wildlife is busy enough and a couple of dramatic events took place recently. First off, a Cooper's hawk was chasing a local crow, with what looked like serious intentions. Almost always it's the crows chasing the hawk. Also our two resident geese were doing their usual thing, just sitting down, only to be attacked by a red fox. It was textbook action, with the geese holding out their wings and intimidating the fox into semi retreat. I cracked open the front door in my failed attempt to get a picture but the fox had had enough, instantly heard me and took off at full speed. The geese thanked me later by leaving their droppings all over my driveway.
