Snow machines have started crossing the lake ice. There was a report this week of 8” of crumbly ice that an amphibious vehicle broke through. There is almost a foot of snow on the ground and on bush trails. Colder nights have firmed up the boggier sections. Packed snowshoe trails are now firm enough to transverse with boots. Nordic trails at the club are in great condition. A single pine grosbeak was seen at the feeder. A flock of purple finches, male and female, have been visiting regularly.
