Station Name: Pekin 3.6 SSE
Report Date: 5/5/2024
Submitted: 5/05/2024 10:05 AM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
This week I received 2.11" of rain. The heavy rains last weekend resulted in runoff that quickly brought the pond level up around 5", the overflow pipe now has the level back to around an inch. Our creek is flowing close to normal. Grass is growing and requires mowing every 5-6 days. There was only a little farm field work done this week and my garden dried out enough to plant only to become to wet again from the next rain. Mother goose hatched her eggs, so we now have 6 new baby geese and a couple of mallard babies too. I have never had a goose hatch duck eggs but now I have. We will have to see if the ducks survive. So we now have two families of 6 baby geese and 2 ducks on the pond with one more nest to hatch any day. It is going to be an active and noisy year on the pond. The lilacs are done blooming and the snowball bush is in full bloom. I saw my first Baltimore Oriole enjoying some orange and jelly at the feeder, I hope for many more sightings.
